Reading has more than one claim to fame. The Pennsylvania Dutch Country city
is the home of Reading Railroad, immortalized on the Monopoly gameboard, as
well as the first Civil War regiment, volunteer band and women's society. The
idea to cultivate outlet shopping as a tourist industry was also developed in
Reading, spawning its designation as the Original Outlet Capital of the World.
